People from most countries will need to obtain a visa to go to Ukraine. That shouldn't be a problem if you ask the embassy in your country in time. In case the embassy requires an invitation, please send a mail to [1]

EU citizens do not need visa to enter Ukraine this summer. But please call the Ukrainian embassy in your country to assure.

Kiev has an international airport. It's usually cheaper to flight with ukrainian airlines to Kiev.
People coming from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia should check Aerosvit airlines page for bookings.
People coming from Europe can also check another ukrainian company - Ukraine International Airlines.
If there's no direct flight to Kiev from your location, try LOT Polish Airlines and Czech Airlines.
[edit] Traveling from airport to the city
A taxi from the airport to the center can be rather expensive: 10-30 USD.
It is much cheaper (2 usd) to take a bus to the railway station which is located in the center of the city. From railway station there's a good connection with all places in Kiev by subway, bus, trolley-bus and tram. Public transportation fares vary from 0.14 to 0.37 usd.
